My Fantasy Football Season Comes to an End

So this actually happened like 2 weeks ago, but I didn’t realize it today. The fantasy football league I was in ended with me finishing in 3rd place. Not to bad for being a sport that I don’t follow like mad (like Nascar).

It was kind of different from how I normally do fantasy football as well. It was an auction league where basically you are given a salary cap every week, and you bid on who you want. This allowed anyone to have any player they wanted, as long as they were willing to pay for him. Towards the end, it got really close, and up until 2 weeks to go, I thought I still had a chance at making a run for first (I was in second at one point).

I must admit that fantasy sports add a whole new aspect to watching the games. It causes you to cheer for teams you normally didn’t care about. It causes you to think about what each play means to each player. It simply adds to the brain power of the sport, which in my mind, makes it more fun.

I have a cousin who loves online fantasy sports (particularly baseball). He has recently discovered http://www.whatifsports.com, a site that allows simulated match-ups between past and present players. I wonder if me joining would allow me to learn more about past sports, something I’ve never really been good at. I can barely remember who won last years Super Bowl (let alone who played in it). In any case, if anyone else plays at whatifsports, let me know… I’ve been curious about whether or not forming a league would be a good idea.

On another fantasy sport note: Nascar starts in 43 days. I figure it will be a month or two yet before we setup for the 4th annual Justin’s Fantasy League there…

Hey, I'm a WIS junkie – great site, been on since 2001. Mostly play simleague baseball and college basketball games (Hoops Dynasty doesn't use real players though). Haven't tried the NASCAR game but I have tried simleague football and that's pretty good too.

    Justin,

I just saw this post so not sure you're going to see it since it's April, but if you want to try out one of our games for free, shoot me an email at pkuo@whatifsports.com. Thanks!
